I’m so excited to share the first short story of 2024 with you! In case you missed it, in 2024 I’m publishing one short story every month, and we’re starting off with “Snow Queen.”
“Snow Queen” is about 17-year-old Margot, who is taking her first ballet class after her gender transition. It’s a 3,000-word short story.
This story was inspired by my 10 years of intensive ballet and the body dysmorphia that led to me quitting. Gender dysphoria (which Margot experiences) is not the same as body dysmorphia, but there are similarities, and I drew from that experience when writing about Margot.
