Introducing a new poetry collection by Rain Thomas

About a year ago, a character named Rain Thomas took up residence in my mind. She was so fully formed that it felt like she had always existed and I had just discovered her. She was a 26-year-old poet from California who had a cat named Hemingway and loved to write poetry. Like me, she struggled with depression and used writing as a coping mechanism.

As a character-building exercise, I decided to write some of Rain’s poetry. I let her take the reins and she ran with it. Together we ended up producing an entire poetry collection. And that’s what I’m presenting to you all today…A THOUSAND DAYS OF THUNDERSTORMS by Rain Thomas.

Rain’s poetry is very different from mine. Even though we deal with similar themes, Rain’s poems are more in the #instapoetry style. I had so much fun channeling her voice because it was an opportunity to write something new. Some of them are over-the-top and melodramatic, but you know what? I have those aspects to my personality too. (My husband even helped me with some of them, which was super fun.)

Rain will probably appear in a future book, but I haven’t written it yet. For now she lives as a character inside my mind…and now as a poet. I am already working on her second poetry collection. I hope that you will enjoy this change of pace and show Rain some appreciation.

(I also designed the cover for this one myself, which is a first!)

A THOUSAND DAYS OF THUNDERSTORMS is available in paperback and ebook, or message me for a signed copy (by Rain, of course).
