The one with the poodle poem

Thank you all so much for your kind comments on my last post. It means a lot. Hugs to all of you who told me about your own beloved pets passing away. I’m glad to have you all as friends!

I wanted to branch out a bit and post a poem here. I took Intro to Poetry Writing this summer at my college, and nobody was more surprised than me when I discovered I like writing poetry. I never was much of a “poetry person,” but turns out I actually quite like reading and writing it. Just goes to show you should always keep an open mind!

Anyway, I wrote a couple dozen poems over the course of the class, and I thought it might be fun to post one here. Either that or this is the day my blog jumps the shark. This poem wasn’t for an assignment, it’s one I wrote about Ruby as a way of dealing with her passing away.

Here’s the PDF if that doesn’t show up for you. The awesome cursive font is from dafont.com.

Nothing spectacular, but I had fun writing it and wanted to share it with you. I’m actually in the process of compiling all the poems I wrote about Ruby with the goal of self-publishing a poetry collection. What do you think of that idea?

Are you fans of poetry? Or do you prefer normal writing? I’d love to chat about it! (I still prefer traditional books myself.) As always, thank you for reading and for all your support. 🙂

  1. Aww, that was such an adorable poem! My dog, Charlie, is quite similar when sleeping. He doesn’t snore often, but he does do the stretching thing, using your leg as leverage. I squee internally whenever that happens, he’s such an idiot. 🙂 I prefer traditional books, too, though I will read the occasional poem (like this one!). 😀

Thank you so much, filliefanatic! ^__^ Dogs are the silliest creatures sometimes. It’s so fun to watch them…once my puppy Maisie started wagging her tail in her sleep, and it was the best thing ever. 😀 What kind of dog is Charlie? He sounds like a sweetie! <3

      1. You’re welcome! Charlie’s a cavoodle who’s a little taller than usual cavoodles. His legs just kept growing! 😂 I think Charlie’s done that before, he’s also twitched his face and legs like he’s dreaming of chasing something, it is the cutest thing! 😊

What a cutie! There are so many breeds that have poodle in them and the names always make me smile. 🙂 Ruby used to run in her sleep too, it was so cute to watch her paws twitching. Dogs are the best. <3
