I cannot figure out how to get the 2 in the title to do the Mc2 thing; the HTML isn’t working. Oh well, perhaps you can imagine it in.
Anyway, today I have a crochet pattern for a new kind of doll – Mc2! On Friday I acquired “McKeyla,” who’s the main character in this new doll line (but I named her Agatha.) I found an Ever After High skirt that fits her, but I needed a top to go along with it, so this is the result. I will probably design some more stuff for her in the future, but we’ll see!
Materials
- DK weight yarn (I think – mine didn’t have a label.) You’ll need somewhere less than 20 yards, but again, mine was unlabeled.
- E (3.5 MM) crochet hook
- 3 buttons – you can do any size since you can customize the button loop size
Notes: • Things in (parentheses) are worked in the same stitch. For example, 3 dc means work 1 dc into each of the next 3 sts, but (3dc) means put your 3 double crochets all in the same space. • The turning chain never counts as a stitch in this pattern. • US terms used throughout. •
Pattern
Ch 24.
Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hk, dc 2, (3dc), dc 3, (3dc), dc 6, (3 dc), dc 3, (3dc), dc 3.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, dc 5, sk next 5 sts, dc 10, sk next 5 sts, dc 5. (armholes made)
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, dc 7, (2dc), dc 4, (2dc), dc 7.
Row 4: Ch 2, turn, dc in each st across.
Row 5: Ch 2, turn, dc 1, dc2tog, *dc 2, dc2tog* 4x, dc 1, dc2tog.
Row 6: Ch 2, turn, dc in each st across.
Make buttonholes: Ch 6 (or number to fit around your button), *sc 3 along the edge, ch 6* 2x, sl st into beginning chain.
Fasten off, weave in ends, and sew your buttons to the opposite side. I did it while it was on the doll to check the placement.
It was quite fun designing this pattern, perhaps I’ll end up doing more in the future! I like this new kind of fashion doll. Although overly thin (as usual in the doll world) I love her poseability and eyes! There are four characters – my sister has Adrienne, and I really like Bryden! (What’s up with the interestingly-spelt names, though? Adrienne, McKeyla, Bryden, and Camryn.)
