Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.
My name is Claire (she/her) and I like books, yarn, and the Oxford comma. I graduated summa cum laude from Portland State University in 2020 with a B.A. in French and English. Now I’m an author, fiber artist, proofreader, and part-time bookseller. I live in Portland, Oregon with my husband and my emotional support cat Persephone.
I’m the author of Unraveled (January 14, 2025), The Lost Girl of Goose Creek (2025), and The Girl in the Northwest Tower (2026) from Fractured Mirror Publishing. My short stories have been published in several anthologies. Being bisexual, neurodivergent, and living with invisible disability, I care deeply about diversity in fiction so readers will know they’re not alone.
In addition to writing, I’m a fiber artist! I taught myself to crochet in the spring of 2011 when I was 14 years old with the sole purpose of making stuffed animals, and over a decade (!) later, that’s still my favorite thing to make. I began designing professionally in 2014 and my work has been published in Crochetvolution, Crochet Spot, and KnitCrate.
I live with invisible disability and I often write about my experiences to raise awareness and connect with others. I’ve been diagnosed with OCD, anxiety, panic disorder, depression, ADHD, and BFRBs. My psychiatrist and I suspect I am also autistic. The physical illnesses I have are Long Covid (since June 2022), POTS, ME/CFS, and hEDS. I constantly experience digestive issues, abdominal migraines, GERD, fatigue, and widespread muscle and joint pain.
Because of all these health issues, writing and reading books is how I experience the world. I’m passionate about ending the stigma around mental illness and helping others feel less alone in their struggles by sharing my own experience. Books have always made me feel less alone, and that’s what I hope my readers feel too.
I love animals and have been a vegetarian since October 2012. My family kept chickens when I was a teenager and I will always treasure my time with my chicken friend Harriet. I even have a tattoo of her stripey feather. My dream is to have a flock of my own one day. Now I have a kitty named Persephone who is the love of my life.
I have been blogging since 2013 and I love documenting my life and making friends along the way. Thank you for joining me!
