Ever After High Pineapple Sundress ~ Free Crochet Pattern

I was fortunate enough to be given an Ever After High doll (EAH to be concise), and I immediately set about crocheting something for her. I think they have the same proportions as Monster High dolls. I’d never had one of these dolls before and I was surprised by their strange proportions – tiny shoulders, curvy back, short torso, and huge head! Nevertheless, Briar is very fun to crochet for, and she’ll be getting her own crochet wardrobe.

Whenever I walk by a Barbie aisle, I see an entire section of Monster- and Ever After High dolls, they do seem to be rather popular. Chances are you know somebody who has one, so now you can crochet a dress for them! (I think it would be cool to crochet some dresses and wrap them if you’re giving one of these dolls as a gift. Some of their clothes seem to be rather skimpy.)

A second sundress, in purple this time!

The holes make it slightly sheer, so I like to put a pair of jeans under it. They don’t appear in the pictures, because I didn’t crochet them – they’re just normal doll clothing. Leggings would work too, or you could crochet some bloomers (pantaloons?).

Materials

  • Less than 50 yards of size 10 crochet thread (I used black-and-white variegated, and later I made another with purple)
  • 2.1 MM crochet hook

Notes

I use US crochet terms in all of my patterns. Here’s a chart showing US –> UK with the abbreviations:

This dress doesn’t require any fastenings, yay! There are just two long chained straps that you tie halter-top style. The below picture shows the back:

You only need to know chain, sl st, sc, and dc for this pattern, as it’s a variation on the pineapple motif. This is my first time using it in a pattern. I didn’t do shells in between pineapples, to mix it up a bit, so it looks a bit more like lacy eyelets…oh well, there’s always next time.

Pattern

Ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.

Row 1: Ch 2, 6 dc in ring.

Straps

Turn the dress over so you can work into the chain 4 space at the neckline. Then crochet as follows (I put in line breaks to make it easier to follow):

Ch 30 to make the right strap. Sc into the chain 4 space.
Sc into the ends of Rows 1 and 2 (4 or 5 stitches work well.)
Then sc loosely into the other side of the chain-12 from Row 2 (12 sc total – throw in a few increases if it’s coming out too tight!)
Sc up the other side of Rows 1 and 2.
Then sc into the chain 4 space.
Sl st to the first sc. Ch 30 for the left strap. Fasten off.
You don’t have to weave in the ends from the straps, just pull the tail tight and cut it off leaving a small tail so it doesn’t unravel.

Have you encountered any type of Miscellaneous High dolls before? What do you think of them? Nothing will ever replace Barbie for me, but it can be a nice change. Let me know if you’re interested in more clothes for them in the future!

I hope you have a most wonderful day, lovely followers. <3
