The Pink Pearl Wrap!
Hooray!
For those of you who voted for Katniss, rest assured, the pattern is coming very soon. I’m guessing sometime this week or early next week. But for now I am very pleased to present you with the pattern for the Pink Pearl Wrap.
Materials
- Approximately 4 oz/400 yards of fingering weight yarn. Notes on the yarn I used: I went to an estate sale last year and got 36 skeins of light weight yarn. It was called ‘knitting yarn’ or something like that, and it didn’t say the brand. I asked at my LYS and they gave the estimate of about 100-110 yards per skein. I think the yarn is fingering weight. It’s also 2ply, but that doesn’t make a difference in the weight. See notes on gauge (it’s not important for this pattern.) You can try different weights and brands and see what you like.
- E (3.50 MM) hook
- 16 1MM pink ‘crystal’ beads
- Small steel hook to fit through the hole in your beads (2.1 MM for me)
Gauge: Gauge is unimportant for this (yay!) My measurements came out to just over 5 feet, but you can change the number of repeats for whatever length you want. I don’t know the width, but if it’s essential for you to know it, I would be happy to measure it for you.
Notes & Special Stitches
I use US crochet terms in all of my patterns.
The beads are crocheted on at the very end, during the edging rows. This is how you attach a bead:
- Using larger hook, ch 10
- Remove hook from lp
- Insert smaller steel hole through the bead
- Find the 3rd ch from the dropped loop.
- Insert the hook under two loops of that chain.
- Pull the chain through the bead.
- Place the dropped loop back on the hook.
- Pull the previously dropped loop through the chains.
- Sl st through 2 loops of next available chain.
- Switch back to larger hook.
Pattern
Ch 10, remove hook from lp, ins smaller hook through bead and through 2 lps of 3rd ch from hk. Pull ch through bead. Put dropped lp back on hk, pull through the chs. Sl st through 2 lps of next available ch. Change back to larger hk.
Row 1: Ch 93. Tr in 9th ch from hk. *ch 2, sk 2 ch, tr in next ch* across.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in 1st tr. *ch 2, sk next ch-2 sp, sc in next tr* across.
Row 3: Ch 2, turn. 3 dc in 1st ch-2 sp. *Ch 2, sk next ch-2 sp, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp* across, dc in last sc.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in sp bet 1st dc and 3-dc cl. *ch 2, sc in right side of next ch-2 sp, ch 2, sc in 1st dc of next 3-dc cl* across, ending with ch 2, sc in sp bet last 3-dc cl and turning ch-2.
Row 5: Ch 6, turn (counts as tr + ch-2). *Sk next ch-2 sp, tr in next sc* across.
Rep rows 2-5 until wrap is desired length.
Edging
Row 1: Ch 12, turn, sk 1st 2 ch-sps, sc in next ch-sp. *ch 12, sk next ch-sp, sc in next ch-sp* across, ending with a sc in the last tr.
Row 2: Ch 16, turn, attach bead, ch 6, sc in middle ch of next ch-12 sp. *ch 12, sc in middle ch of next ch-12 sp, ch 10, attach bead, ch 6, sc in middle ch of next ch-12 sp* across.
Alternate Second Row: If you’d prefer to leave off the beads, you can do regular chain loops in the second row as follows.
Row 2: Ch 16, turn, sc in middle ch of 1st ch-12 sp, *ch 12, sc in middle ch of next ch-12 sp* across.
Finishing
Crochet the edging on both sides of the wrap. Then fasten off and weave in all of your ends. It might benefit from some blocking to open up the stitches, particularly the chain loops, but I didn’t block it. Then all that’s left is for you to enjoy your Pink Pearl Wrap!
I hope you all have a wonderful day, and I’ll be back in the near future to post the Amigurumi Katniss pattern! <3
