Fuzzy Blob – A Crochet Pattern Inspired By ea1701

I discovered ea1701’s blog through the Reader Appreciation Award.  Check out her amigurumi patterns, they are so cute!  But in my opinion, the cutest thing of all is her Karl Wallpaper Pack.  Go ahead, click on the link, you won’t regret it.

I asked Karissa if I could post a crocheted version on my blog, and she kindly allowed me.  She only requests that you do not sell the finished items from this pattern.  You can sell items from my other patterns, just not this one.  And, of course, don’t sell the pattern itself or anything like that.

Supplies:

Gray worsted-weight yarn

Size G (4.00 MM) crochet hook

Stuffing – I used polyfill, but yarn scraps work well too

Row counter (optional, you could use paper instead)  and stitch marker

Pet slicker brush or hairbrush with spiky bristles, to brush the finished amigurumi to make it fuzzy

25 mm googly eyes

Hot glue gun (Edited to Add: Be extremely careful with this torture device piece of equipment…I gave myself a horrible burn by setting my arm down on top of it.  Ouch.)

Pattern Notes: 

As with most amigurumi, work in a spiral without slip-stitching to join.  A row counter is handy to keep track of your row, but not essential.  Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.  The WRONG SIDE of your stitches will be facing out for this amigurumi to help with the fluffing.

1: 6 sc in a magic ring

2: inc around

3: *sc 1, inc* around

4: *sc 2, inc* around

5: *sc 3, inc* around

6: *sc 4, inc* around

7-12: sc around

13: *sc 4, sc2tog* around

14: *sc 3, sc2tog* around

15: *sc 2, sc2tog* around

16: *sc 1, sc2tog* around

Stuff at the end of Rnd 16, and continue to stuff as you finish the blob with:

17: *sc2tog* around

Sl st to next st.  Cut yarn, leaving a long tail, and sew hole closed.  Weave in ends.

7-9: sc around

10: *sc 4, sc2tog* around

11: *sc 1, sc2tog* around

Remove marker and *sc2tog* until the hole is super tiny, being sure to stuff before that point.  Sl st to next st. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail, and sew hole closed.  Weave in ends.

Finishing for both sizes:

Take your brush and do some vigorous fluffing on your amigurumi.  Don’t worry about being gentle!

Next glue on the googly eyes with hot glue.  Check the placement carefully!  I’ve tried to pry the eyes off after gluing, and take it from me, it’s a lost cause.

Itty Bitty Bow

Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each ch across (5)

Rows 2-4: ch 1, turn, sc in each st across (5)

Cut yarn, leaving a foot-long tail.  Weave it to the middle of the bow and wrap the yarn around the center, like in the picture above.  Knot yarn and weave in both ends.
