My favorite independent bookstore, Annie Bloom’s Books, is having their second-ever Bookstore Romance Day. It just so happens that I am leaving for my honeymoon on this day, which is obviously super exciting, but I was bummed to miss their celebration. Joanna from ABB was kind enough to give me some book recommendations and let me participate with an online ordooker that I will pick up when I get back to the USA. (I figured I will be sad when I get home from France, so it will be nice to have something to look forward to in the form of romance books.)
They are doing this fun thing called “Blind Date With an ARC” (Advance Reader Copy) where if you get a romance book, they give you a mystery romance ARC (of an already-released book). Last year I ended up with “She Gets the Girl” by two coauthor wives, which was a super fun read. I can’t wait to see what I end up with this year.
What are your favorite tropes? I really like fake dating, grumpy/sunshine, and “there was only one bed.” I don’t really like second chance romance (because they usually involve heartbreak and that’s too much of an emotional rollercoaster for me).
The romance books I got this year are:
- The Fiancée Farce by Alexandria Bellefleur – Fake dating and it’s sapphic, and there are pink dresses on the cover? Obviously I’m going to read it.
- People We Meet On Vacation and Book Lovers by Emily Henry – I have read two of her other books and really enjoyed them, so I want to read the rest.
I am posting this on Friday night, and Bookstore Romance Day is on Saturday, so you have plenty of time to see if your bookstore is doing something!
