Long time, no see! Well, I’ll be seeing a lot of you all this month because I’m back at the A to Z Challenge.
If you didn’t know, I am diagnosed with severe anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and I will be talking about OCD this month.
For the month of April, lots of people participate in what’s called the A to Z Challenge, where they write one blog post a day starting with a different letter of the alphabet. I’ve done this a few times in the past and it’s lots of fun. So this April I have prepared a crash course in OCD, from someone who suffers from the disorder herself.
We will be covering the basics of OCD, from obsessions to compulsions and lots of stuff in between. Stuff like what OCD therapy is like, what medications some people might take, how you get diagnosed, what intrusive thoughts are like, and what it’s really like living with it. Whether you have a mental illness yourself, know someone with one, or don’t know anything about mental illness at all, I hope that you can benefit from this crash course.
It used to be almost impossible for me to talk about OCD. It has taken years of therapy to get to the point where I am comfortable discussing it. One of my main life goals is to help destigmatize mental illness, which basically means I plan to never shut up about it. So please feel free to share these posts to get them to the people who need them.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post about OCD from A to Z, and thanks for reading!
