The A to Z Challenge 2017

Hello! I’m super excited to be participating in the A to Z Challenge this year. I found out about this challenge from the wonderful Aidyl over at lydiahowe.com. Her blog has been a source of inspiration for me for the past several years, and every April she does the A to Z Challenge. She was kind enough to encourage me to join in, and I’ve been excitedly brainstorming.

The gist of the challenge is that every day in April, you post something that starts with the corresponding letter of the alphabet. That means some days are going to be really easy (all the vowels, for example), and other days will be a little trickier (it took me ages to think of an idea for X!). Here’s the link to the A to Z Challenge website – there are no signups, you just join in with a theme of your choice.

So, I had to think of a theme, and it didn’t take long for me to hit upon one that fits right with my blog theme: Learn to Crochet A to Z! I’ve been wanting to write a beginner’s guide to crochet for quite awhile now, and I think this could be a fun way to go about it. The nature of the alphabet challenge means some of the posts won’t be in linear order, but I think it could still be useful to beginners, or people wanting a refresher course.

The more I thought about it, I realized this was actually like blogging a book, which pleases me greatly because I really enjoyed blogging “The Yarn Wars” and “Unraveled.” This time I’m foraying into nonfiction – a guide to crochet! That means starting on Saturday, I’ll be posting the first installment. I’ve been busily writing for the past four days trying to schedule all the posts before college classes start up, and I’m so excited to share them with you!

What do you think of this idea? Would you like to join in on the A to Z Challenge? It’s going to be quite the task, but I’m up for a challenge…I hope you’ll enjoy it! 🙂

    1. Thank you, River! That makes me happy to know you’ll be following along, I appreciate the support! 😀 I’m really lucky to have thought of something for X, but I had a lot of trouble with Z…my sister ended up getting out the dictionary to help. 🙂

      1. Ooh. . . using the dictionary was a good idea! Now I’m really curious about Z, too. Also about Q, that always seems like a difficult letter to match! XD Anyway, I’m looking forward to it!
