I need your help! I’ve crocheted another dress for Ever After-/Monster High (modeled on a Disney Fairy doll…they can wear each others’ clothes) and I have no idea what to name the pattern.
It’s supposed to look like one of those ball gowns with the swoopy things on the side (I have no idea what they’re called.) It can be done in one or two colors, though I like the 2-color version best.
Your suggestions are appreciated!
I’ll post the pattern soon…but it needs a name!
Thank you for any help you can offer! 🙂
It is like a peplum dress!
It does look like one! That might end up in the name… “Ever After High Peplum Dress” or something. 🙂

It totally looks like a tea party dress. XD
Oh, I could totally see that! I actually made another dress that I’m calling the “Tea Party Dress’…but I didn’t write down the pattern. So maybe this will be the edited version! 🙂

I don’t know what to call it, but the swoopy things look almost like insect wings. And the colors remind me of an insect– a bit… although I shouldn’t be focusing on the colors… Laceywing Dress?
That’s a great suggestion, Changuita! It does look rather insect-like…and Laceywing Dress sounds so pretty. I never would have thought of that, thanks so much!

Lovely work! The swoopy things (to steal a term from the last commenter) reminded me of leaves on a flower for the two-toned dress. Both are absolutely lovely! I would just combine a few of the other suggestions. Peplum Tea Party Dress would be cute.
Thank you, Lovely Strife! Yes, it reminds me of leaves too, especially with those colors. I’m glad you like it! That’s a great combination of suggestions, I’m so relieved to finally have a name for this dress. 😀

I think the technical name for the swoopy things is “panniers” – which you will appreciate, being a lover of all things French! But panniers are usually draped or poofy, so your fashion detail may well be a peplum instead.
You’ve already got some great name suggestions, but I’ll add mine anyway. I would call it the Calyx dress, as the swoopy things remind me of a flower’s calyx.

I knew there must be a technical name for them – and I figured you would know what it was! I just love your name suggestion, it sounds so much fancier than my usual dress names. 🙂 I will definitely be using that name at some point! Thank you so much!
