Hello lovely followers! I did promise you another dress from Frozen. This is the last one I have planned (although I’m always happy to take requests!) 🙂 I think I like this one better than Elsa’s coronation dress, although I do love her long flowy signature cape. Does anyone else think their dresses kind of reflect their personalities? Anna is a social, happy person so her dress is more summery, and Elsa is an introvert so she’s covered from head to toe.

Anyways, this one was harder to do than Elsa’s because of the interesting stripes on the skirt. I do not like doing tapestry crochet so I ended up doing it back and forth in rows and then I sewed it up the side to make a tubelike thing. Because there are double crochets on one side and shorter stitches on the other, the shaping is built into it. I learned this technique from the book ‘Crochet That Fits’ by Mary Jane Hall and then I adapted it for my own nefarious purposes. But there’s no plagiarism here, the pattern is my own. 😉

 Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in dark green, light green, white, and black (I used an assortment of I Love This Yarn, Red Heart Super Saver, and Vanna’s Choice ~ the brand does not matter, although I used all acrylic)
• Size I (5.50 MM) hook
• 2 hook and eye clasps to close up the back
• Needle & thread if you wish to embroider some details on the bodice

Notes

I use US crochet terms in all my patterns. Here’s a chart showing US –> UK terms with all of the abbreviations.

The turning chain never counts as a stitch in this pattern.

Skirt

Foundation Row: Ch 26. Starting in the second chain from the hook, sl st 1, sc 3, hdc 5, dc 16 to the end of the chain.

Row 1: Ch 2, turn. Dc 16, hdc 5, sc 3, sl st 1.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sl st 1, sc 3, hdc 5, dc 16.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 in the following color sequence:

 *3 rows dark green, 2 rows white* 6x.

You should have 6 dark green stripes and 6 white stripes. The white ones are slightly skinnier since they’re only two rows.

Add a row of surface slip stitch with light green down the middle of all the white rows. Then whipstitch the starting and ending rows together.

Bodice

Join black yarn to the top of the skirt.

Row 1: Make 1 sc in the end of each stripe around, to result in 12 stitches total.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, *sc 2, sc2tog* around (9)

Rows 3-8: Ch 1, turn, 2sc in first st, sc in rest of sts.

Row 9: Ch 1, turn, sc in first 5 sts, 4sc in next st, sk 1, sl st in next st, sk 1, 4sc in next st, sc in last 5 sts.

Change to light brown for border.

Row 10 (WS): Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.

Sleeves

Right Sleeve

With the right side of the dress facing, join brown yarn with a slip stitch to the 6th stitch from the left. Ch 4, sk 2, sl st in next st. Turn, do not chain, hdc in first ch, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in last ch. Sl st into original stitch. Turn, do not chain. Tightly sl st in each st across to mirror the starting chain. Sl st in stitch from the brown border. FO, weave in ends.

Left Sleeve

With the right side of the dress facing, join brown yarn with a slip stitch to the 3rd stitch from the right. Repeat the steps for the right sleeve.

Finishing

Sew two hook and eye clasps to the back of the bodice. You can add some rosemaling embroidery on the front if you like, I haven’t yet gotten around to it.
